April, well hello there!!

Spring and Easter is right here and I feel like how did that happen?

The sun has been kind and have enjoyed the odd break to feel a little of the sun rays on my face in-between my schedules. Restrictions are being lifted and people are starting to appear in the streets and beaches.

How do you feel about that?

Does it fill you with apprehension or joy?

Life has changed, people are choosing new ways to approach things and we are all still finding our feet.

I know lots of things have changed for me, and it is partly scary and partly exciting, as what will unfold.

I have no idea and I can only go with the flow and see what reveals itself, as they say one door has to shut for another to open, and whether that’s instant or slow and takes time I shall endeavour to know it will all be ok!

April term is all ready to go, with Pilates, Garuda, Franklin Method and Power Hour on the payment plan and Meditation and Yoga are available as pay as you go or a course, please enquire.

May is being worked on with hopefully some early morning Yoga slotted in to start your day the right way before work or a day entertains the children, grandchildren or yourselves.

May Coastal Retreat is FULLY BOOKED and hopefully will go ahead, 4 had to be cancelled over the last 12 months so I am excited for this to go ahead, to share time and space with beautiful people.

SoundBaths are being scheduled along the way with different flavours and themes. on line aswell as in life realtime, yayyyy so excited to share these with you.

February 2021

It is getting lighter in the evenings, daffodils are starting to peek through the ground, and there is a feeling of new beginnings. Right now we are amongst confusion and an unknowingness that we have never experienced before, together. There are opportunities for all of us to grow. We have an opportunity to learn from everything that unfolds around us, however trivial to however traumatic. Can you resonate with that? Or do you get lost in the fear of it? I encourage you to look deeply, to ask questions to yourself, to be curious with life and at the same time be kind to you and go gently. It is a wonderful practice to see life this way, to step out of the drama of life, to find a little separation and space . And to remind ourselves of impermanence. Nothing stays the same, everything changes, however wonderful or however hard things may feel, things change, you will change, your body, all your cells, your thoughts, your perceptions. Don’t get stuck in the stories we tell ourselves, we always have a choice, how we react, how we see, feel, think. How does that concept make you feel? Explore your answer!

Yesterday I was part of a lovely online Yoga Retreat creating a wonderful relaxing sound bath journey. Such a lovely way to spend a Sunday on a cold chilly day. I am running a Valentines Retreat Saturday 13 February with the lovely Juliette Grove. we would love you to join us, we have a few spaces left so do get in touch.

You will have get to enjoy Pilates and Garuda, plus a nutrition talk, a questions and answers session plus a sound bath journey to finish the day. Sending love and compassion to all of you that have been affected somehow in any form from loss of loved ones, loss of work, loss of connection, I wish you more ease and peace for 2021.

For those of you who have been with me in my online studio, much gratitude for your support and your wonderful energy you brought to the sessions.

With so many various styles there is always something to chose that suits where you are, physically and emotionally and how you are feeling and with the added bonus of the recorded sessions to be able to chose the times that suit your own personal schedule so you never have to miss out from having a session.

December OnLine Studio

I know it is early, but we have been “winter styling” and turned our home into a nordic ski lodge!!! I cannot tell you how happy this has made me! it feels super cosy and I just feel so happy to stay in and snuggle down ready for Christmas.

We have sleds, reindeers, (not real ones obviously, although how lovely would that be!😍) fairy lights, 2 Christmas trees, vintage skis, skates and snow shoes!!! We really have gone to town, or chalet I should say! So instead of buying presents this is our gift to ourselves. This December is also our 5th wedding anniversary so being super cosy and creating a space that fills our eyes and hearts with things that create joy and memories felt so important this year.

How are your plans? Does it excite you or fill you with dread? I know I have had some like that some years that I have dreaded it, for sure. It will be a very different one this year for us all I am sure in many ways.

November Term

November Term, an enriched program of Mind, Body, Soul with its influences being about embodiment, feeling, sensing, awakening, somatic and interoception.

Interoception– defined as the internal state of the body. It encompasses the brain’s process of integrating signals relayed from the body allowing for nuanced representation of the physiological state of the body. Why is this important? For maintaining homeostatis in the body and potentially facilitating self awareness. Misrepresentations of internal states, disconnection, have been suggested to underlie anxiety and depression.

When you can experience your body, everything can fall into place from movement itself, clarity of thought, personal relationships, releasing tensions emotional and physical. This topic alone can send me off into a whole realm of topics and discussions hence why I am opening up the ABC to Wellbeing Program to help you create, experience and understand it in an embodied sense. This course will be so valuable and life changing and even enabling you to get even more joy, peace, ease and flow out of everyday life, work, relationships to self and others, including seeing more depth into our monthly programs. Anyway, back to November, 😊, the nights are drawing in, so being mindful of the season, and circadian rhythms the evening sessions will be gentle or strength based but with both you will be winding down early and having 15 minutes of relaxation/meditation to settle energies and the parasympathetic nervous system into a rested state, perfect to release the days stress and prepare the body and mind for goodnights sleep. Remember to follow this through with switching off gadgets well before bedtime, choosing your lights for your house to be soft and warm not harsh lights as this messes up the circadian rhythm , eat earlier in the evening, avoid stress provoking situations, news and TV will also help.

Thursday Barre is back! use a table, worktop, window ledge or even a wall. A whole body standing push, pull, arc and curl for the most beautiful sensory stretch session , In my opinion.😊

Meditation – take a moment

How are you today? 

I mean, really, how are you?

Do you ever stop to ask yourself this question? 

Do you stop enough to actually listen and find the true answer, the deeper answer?

With stress and anxiety on the rise, with all the uncertainties that are being presented to us, it is more important than ever to take a moment to find space, calm, peace and to restore energy and find balance. 

If you are too busy to meditate, then I suggest to you that you need to meditate more! 

Take a moment away from the business, the worry, the stress, the constant chatter in your mind, the lists of to do’s and join me with this relaxation meditation I have wrote on Insight timer,

10 minutes to just stop and be, stop doing, and just be, be present, be still, be YOU.

How is your sleep?

If you struggle getting to sleep it becomes a viscious cycle to catch up on feeling ok to be able tackle the day. 

You may like this meditation to help you drift off, a soft voice inviting you to relax, let go, melt into your cosy bed with a delicious piece of music to lull you to drift off.

Drift beautifully into deep sleep.

Good Morning!

How do you wake up?

Sometimes I can literally just keep hitting snooze over and over and struggle to want to get up, mostly due to being menopausal and that disrupting my sleep.

Sleep is so important to our wellbeing, and getting to sleep easily at the end of the day, surprisingly begins with getting up easily in the morning (more than the other way around!), so try this energiser to get up and start your day on the right footing. I will cover getting to sleep at the end of the day in another podcast later.

I have noticed over many years that I need to make a conscious choice to get up straight away, and definitely NOT listen to that old narrative that can buzz around my head, and and allow me to habitually press snooze.

It is about making that conscious decision, yes, making that decision and being responsible for your thoughts. So, I have made this little 5 minute energiser to inspire my lovely clients, and hopefully to you too, to change that. This will help get you to get up by introducing some gentle moves and and good intentions to start your day the best way.

Being only 5 minutes it is so doable. no excuses, it’s less time than the snooze gap, try it out and let me know what you think and if it helps.

Your pelvis, your root, have you ever given it any thought?

Come and explore why knowing and embodying the pelvis and it’s rhythms can have profound effects on the health of your hips, back, knees, pelvic floor and even hamstrings, hip flexors and shoulders.

If you are curious, if you want to move with more ease, flexibility, and feel good in your body this is a workshop you will want to be part of!

Whether you are a Pilates or Yoga devotee, dancer, sports person, gym bunny or ANYONE who wants to experience what feeling good in your body REALLY feels like, or wants to release tension, improve movement and flexibility, and increase strength, this workshop is for you.

Understand the biomechanics and how visualisation and imagery effects your function.

Get to know the design of your pelvis, what it looks like, the function of the hip joint, the rhythms of the bones for healthy hips and spine, and learn bio hacks to better movement.

Poor posture will upset the complex psoas amongst many things, and can affect your breathing, and can be the cause of your bad back, inflexible or tight hips.

A tight core can restrict the diaphragm and the lungs and disrupt coherency. Fluid movement is what we want to encourage to establish a healthy core.

The Psoas -an embodiment and mindful movement workshop. An holistic approach to relax and condition your Psoas. Explore where the Psoas resides, what is it anyway? Why it is something you should know about, and why knowing and embodying it can help improve its function. Its relationship and health benefits to breath, hip, back, kidneys and the pelvic floor and it’s emotional links. 

Enjoy discovering the location and function of the Psoas and illiacus, efficient movement and training and release. Explore the emotional psoas. Finishing with a meditation to fully absorb and embody an holistic workshop. This workshop is perfect to do after the healthy hip workshop to deepen your understanding, but is an individual workshop.

Anyone who wants to learn more about their body, embodying its movement, those who want to release tight hips or back tightness, and feel more open, physically and mentally.
